دربارۀ نام سردۀ دو گونه از دارکوبهای ایران گاهی ردهبندی آنها توسط دانشمندان مورد بحث قرار میگیرد.
بر اساس آخرین تغییرهای انجامشده، نام سردۀ دارکوب سرسرخ از Dendrocopos به Dendrocoptes تغییر کرده است (Fuchs & Pons 2015). این تغییر مورد تایید چندین فهرست جهانی پرندگان جهان از قبیل Gill & Donsker (2019)، Clements et al. 2018، John Boyd, TiF (2017) قرار گرفته است.
همچنین نام جنس دارکوب کوچک از Dendrocopos به Dryobates تغییر یافته است (Fuchs & Pons 2015). این تغییرها مورد تایید چندین فهرست جهانی پرندگان جهان از قبیل Gill & Donsker (2019)، Clements et al. 2018، del Hoyo et al. (2014-2016)، John Boyd, TiF (2017) و HBW and BirdLife International (2018) قرار گرفته است. لازم به یادآوری است که اکنون سردۀ Drybates گونههای سردۀ پیشین Picoides را نیز دربر میگیرد (Fuchs & Pons 2015).
